On 26 September 2022, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, met with Mr. Tak Jeong, President of POSCO Group to discuss POSCO’s investment in Thailand, the possibility of expanding such investment, and POSCO’s current investment/businesses in other ASEAN countries. Mr. Tak shared his outlook on the potential of Thailand’s manufacturing industry and steel market, in which Ambassador expressed readiness to support any future plans POSCO may have to expand investment in Thailand. Moreover, Mr. Tak also sought Thailand’s support for Busan’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo.

 

POSCO’s investment in Thailand began in 1997 with the manufacturing of coated steel sheets and galvanized steel for companies in the automobile and home appliances industries. At present, POSCO’s investment in Thailand has amounted to around 14,000 million THB, and its factories have a combined manufacturing capacity of around 600,000 tons per year.
