Ambassador of Thailand to Korea and Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Promote Thailand–ROK Educational Cooperation and Exchanges On 27 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, in his capacity as an alumnus of The Prince Royal’s College, and Ms. Kang Yun-jin, Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the ROK, delivered congratulatory remarks at the MOU signing ceremony between The Prince Royal’s College and Baehwa Girls’ High School, held at the conference hall of Baehwa Girls’ High School. On this occasion, Ambassador Tanee underscored that Thailand–Republic of Korea relations are firmly rooted in shared history, particularly Thailand’s participation in the Korean War, which marked the beginning of a long-standing friendship and enduring partnership between the two countries. He also expressed confidence that educational cooperation between the two schools would serve as an important mechanism to foster mutual understanding and further strengthen ties among the younger generations. Vice Minister Kang also commended Thailand’s important role in the historical development of bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of passing on this shared legacy to younger generations. She also noted that the cooperation between the two schools would play a meaningful role in enhancing awareness and deepening people-to-people connections between the two countries in the long term. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding was the outcome of the visit of Ambassador Tanee and teachers and students from Prince Royal’s College to Baehwa Girls’ High School in August 2025 which the Ambassador encouraged both institutions to explore avenues for enhanced educational cooperation and exchanges. This initiative is expected to further strengthen people-to-people ties and foster closer relations between the youth of Thailand and the ROK.

On 28 March 2026, the Thai Student Association in the ROK, hosted at Ambassador’s Residence the TSAK's first meet event “Binding Knots, Binding Hearts: Thai Students in Korea” in the boy/girl scout theme with the aim of sharing knowledge, fostering networks and relationships in the Thai student community.

Ambassador of Thailand to Korea Delivers a Congratulatory Remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the Special Exhibition “Weaving Hands, Women’s Time: Textile Traditions in ASEAN” in Busan On 26 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, delivered a congratulatory remarks at the opening ceremony of the special exhibition "Weaving Hands, Women’s Time: Textile Traditions in ASEAN,” organized by the KF-ASEAN Culture House in Busan. On this occasion, the Ambassador underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage while embracing contemporary innovation, and expressed his confidence that the exhibition would further enhance mutual understanding and strengthen ties between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea. The exhibition holds significant importance in showcasing the richness and diversity of ASEAN textile traditions, particularly highlighting the vital role of women in preserving and passing on this invaluable cultural heritage. It also reflects the collective efforts of ASEAN Member States in safeguarding shared cultural assets, including initiatives to inscribe traditional attire such as the kebaya on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Ambassador of Thailand to Korea Promotes Cooperation between Thailand and Busan On 26 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, met with Dr. Heui-Yeob Seong, Vice Mayor for Future Innovation of Busan Metropolitan City, to enhance cooperation. The key areas of discussion included the establishment of a sister city partnership in the creative economy, particularly in the film and tourism industry, between Krabi Province and Busan, the opening of direct or chartered flights between Busan and Krabi and the promoting of network between Thai and Busan startups as well as strengthening ASEAN–ROK relations, in light of the Ambassador’s role as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Seoul (ACS) from March to June 2026. The above discussions built upon earlier consultations between the Ambassador and the Governors of Krabi and Phang Nga and representatives from the public and private sectors of both provinces in February 2026. These efforts aim to enhance opportunities for trade and investment, as well as to improve tourism connectivity among Busan, Krabi, and Phang Nga, including nearby lesser known tourism destinations in Thailand.

Ambassador of Thailand Welcomes Teachers and Students from Baekhak Middle School in Gyeonggi province to the Thai Embassy in Seoul On 25 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand, welcomed a teachers and students from Baekhak Middle School on a study visit to the Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul. Ambassador Tanee gave a welcoming remarks highlighting the historical background of Thailand–ROK relations, the strong people-to-people ties between the two countries, the role of an Ambassador and the mission of the Thai Embassy in Seoul in managing bilateral relations, promoting economic interests, and providing consular services. Ms. Jidapa Lumyong, Minister Counsellor, gave a briefing on key aspects of Thailand, including its geography, culture, and major tourist attractions.
