Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea Attends the Opening Ceremony of Yonsei University's Global Day, Showcasing the Charm of Thailand to the World On May 20, 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, attended the opening ceremony of the "Global Day" event held at Yonsei University's Global Lounge and was greeted by Prof. Yong-Chan Kim, Vice President for International Affairs and key university officials. The Global Day was held to provide participants with hands-on experience of the culture of a foreign country and this year Thailand was selected as featured country. The event showcased a diverse array of Thai food, beverages, and products from Thai companies namely Gloverse (Mukgrob Jelly), Freva (Coconut Snowballs), Naturas (Singha products), Hada Trading (Poy-Sian Inhalers), World Food (Tom Yum Goong Ramen and Pad Thai Kits), and Weekenders (Hand and Body Lotion, attracting a large number of young visitors. Ambassador Tanee also discussed with executives of Yonsei University on ways to promote more academic exchanges between the two countries. At present, Yonsei University has academic exchange agreements with 8 Thai universities such as Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University and Chiang Mai University.

On 18 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, met with Mr. Cha Yongho, Commissioner of the Korea Immigration Service, to advance cooperation on immigration affairs and the protection and welfare of Thai nationals in the ROK.

On 18 May 2026, H.E. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea and Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Seoul (ACS), led ASEAN Ambassadors and Representatives on a joint courtesy call on H.E. Yeo Han-Koo, Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea, at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in Seoul. In his capacity as Chair of the ACS and Country Coordinator for ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations, Ambassador Tanee emphasised the importance of the ASEAN-ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) amidst a volatile and unpredictable global landscape and expressed support for the Minister for Trade's target to finalise negotiations for the upgrade of the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA) within 2027. The Ambassador expressed his hope for the full implementation of RCEP and presented the Royal Thai Embassy's plans to establish the Seoul Thailand Startup and Innovation Space (STSIS) at the Embassy and organise the 2026 Thailand-Korea Business Forum: Biohealth, Medtech, Wellness, and Future Food. Ambassador Tanee also underlined strategic areas for economic cooperation between both sides in the future, including supporting startups and SMEs, strengthening supply chain resilience, supporting the digital economy and sustainable economic growth, and jointly developing future industries such as AI. On the bilateral front, the Ambassador conveyed H.E. Suphajee Suthumpun, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce’s thanks to Minister Yeo and her request for consideration of pending issues to finalize the negotiation for Thailand-ROK Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) within this year.

Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic Of Korea attends the opening ceremony for the "Garden of Gratitude" at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul On May 12, 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, attended the opening ceremony for the “Garden of Gratitude” organised by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Executives from the Seoul Metropolitan Governments and Ambassadors or representatives from 22 Korean War participating countries as well as Korean War veterans attended the ceremony. The Garden of Gratitude serves as a tribute to the sacrifices made by veterans from 22 nations during the Korean War and serves as a powerful reminder of the shared commitment to preserving the values of freedom and lasting peace.
