On 21 February 2024, between 15.00 - 16.30 hrs.,
Mr. Rooge Thammongkol, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, together with Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Chargé d’affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, met with Mr. Lee, Jae Yoo, Commissioner, Korean Immigration Service, and Mr. Kim, Jeong Do, Director-General, Department of Immigration Policy Korean Immigration Service, at the headquarters of Korean Immigration Service. Both sides explored further cooperation on immigration matters, which include illegal Thai residents in the Republic of Korea, K-ETA, and the dispatch of Korea's immigration liaison officer to Thailand. Both sides also discussed the promotion of legal Thai labors in the Republic of Korea, especially in the industrial, construction, agricultural, and service sectors, as well as skilled labors.
 
Currently, there are approximately 200,000 Thais in the Republic of Korea.
