On 24 August 2023, Colonel Yoo Jae-Sik, Director of the Republic of Korea Army Personnel Command, and his team paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Witchu Vejjajiva at the Royal Thai Embassy. Colonel Yoo took the opportunity to update the Ambassador on the results of a visit to Thailand by representatives from the ROK Army in March 2023 to further the longstanding cooperation between Thailand and the Republic of Korea on the Korean War Veterans Housing Project. Currently, the project is engaged in supporting three Thai Korean War veterans: a full remodel and renovation of one veteran’s house in Nonthaburi, and the construction of two new houses for veterans residing in Khon Kaen and Ayutthaya. Representatives of the ROK Army are scheduled to travel to Thailand to take part in the Opening Ceremony for the handover of all three houses on 20-21 September 2023, which will serve as yet another symbol of the close bond and storied relations between Thailand and the ROK.
