On September 12 2023, Mr. Jay Park, CEO of Woori Finance Research Institute paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, to convey Woori Bank’s interest in expanding its services to Thailand and to enquire about Thailand’s policies on the establishment of foreign commercial banks, including virtual banks, in Thailand. The CEO was also interested to learn about the feedback of Thai nationals currently using Woori Bank in the ROK. On this occasion, the Ambassador informed the CEO of the Bank of Thailand’s ongoing plan to revise and improve regulations on the establishment of virtual banks, and that the Embassy is ready to help liaise with concerned Thai agencies about any limitations Woori Bank may come across in its efforts to expand its services in Thailand.
