On 29 April 2024, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, welcomed H.E. Mr. Ittiporn Boonpracong, Chairman of the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT), and his delegation composed of Mr. Chai Nakhonchai, Election Commissioner; ECT officials; and students from 14th iteration of the ECT’s Advanced Political and Electoral Development Course during their official visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) between 28 April – 2 May 2024. The Advanced Political and Electoral Development Course brings together a wide range of officials from government agencies, private sector companies, and members of Parliament.

 

On this occasion, the Ambassador-designate briefed the delegation on the longstanding and close relations between Thailand and the ROK, as well as his strategic priorities, including EP – Economic Promotion, especially on investment; CP – Consular Protection; and SP – Soft Power exchange. Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, also briefed the delegation on the Embassy’s overseas election services for the Thai community in the ROK. After the briefing, the Ambassador-designate and the delegation exchanged views on the ways to elevate the Embassy’s work in providing overseas elections services to the Thai community, especially on overcoming budgetary and facility limitations, and on the use of social media in raising the awareness of Thai nationals to exercise their voting rights. The Ambassador-designate also led the delegation on a visit to the Embassy’s Consular Section to observe the Section’s work in providing consular services.
