Thai National ID Card

 

General Information

1. The first Thai national ID card is required to be done in Thailand.

2. The information on Thai ID card will be based on the Thai civil registration database. Should the applicant wish to change their name, title (e.g., due to marriage or divorce), or surname, must first be applying at the district offices where the house registration is located in Thailand."

Thai National ID card contains details of personal data in accordance with Thailand’s database on the House Registration system. In the case that the applicants wish to change the name title or surname after marriage or divorce, the applicants are required to apply for an amendment of his/her personal data at Thai District Offices in Thailand prior to applying for Thai National ID.

3. In case of Thai ID cards have been expired for an extended period, or whose identity information is unclear (The officer will verify the information first)

4. Person who are not eligible to apply for a Thai national ID card abroad

  • A person whose name is registered in Central House Registration.
  • A person who has never held a Thai national ID card or has no record of their first ID card issuance in Thailand

 

 

Procedure for Applying for a Thai National ID Card

1. Appointment Reservation for ID Card Application:

Starting from January 3, 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul reserves the right to provide services only to those who have reserved an appointment in advance through the online system. Applicants must register to reserve an appointment in advance at https://rteseoul-q.consular.go.th. After registration, it is essential to check the appointment date via the registered email or at the same website https://cas.consular.go.th/ and check your appointment date at https://cas.consular.go.th/

 

2. Appointment Reservation Time

The Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul opens the online appointment reservation system for Thai national ID card applications on the last working day of every month at 3:00 PM (local time in South Korea).

Note:

  1. If an applicant registers multiple appointments for the ID card application, only the most recent reservation will be considered valid. Previous registrations will be canceled.
  2. If the national ID card has expired for more than 60 days, a new ID card cannot be issued.

Processing fee : Free of charge

  • ID Card Loss Case
  1. A copy of the previous Thai ID card (if available)
  2. A copy of Thai passport or indicating 13-digited Thai Citizen Number such as  Thai driving license or Household Registration (if available)

Processing fee : 5,000 KRW (Cash only)

Note: The Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul, may request additional documents, if necessary, without prior notice.

 

 

Additional Information:

  1. Applicants must appear in person and may receive their national ID card on the same day, as both a photograph and fingerprint must be recorded in the Ministry of Interior’s database.
  2. In cases where the applicant’s facial appearance has changed—such as due to cosmetic surgery, significant weight gain or loss, or aging—the Ministry of Interior’s database system may not approve the application. In such cases, the applicant must bring a credible Thai witness for an interview. The witness must present a valid, unexpired Thai national ID card, which will be recorded along with a personal verification form in the Ministry of Interior’s database.
