Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK Visits Thai Workers at Mask Manufacturing Factory in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province
On May 10, 2025, Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, visited and checked on Thai workers at the Spunbond&Human factory in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province. The factory produces face masks and agricultural plastics. The purpose of the visit was to inquire about the living conditions and work environment of the Thai workers.
The Spunbond&Human factory is a new facility located in the city with the highest GDP in South Korea. It employs a total of 11 workers, including 7 Thai nationals holding E-9 visas for unskilled labor. Notably, the Thai workers are recognised for their superior performance compared to workers of other nationalities.
The factory utilises machinery for all stages of plastic face mask production. Thai workers are responsible for operating the machines and overseeing general tasks. These workers have been employed at the factory for over four years and are all covered by health insurance, with premiums jointly paid by the employer and employees.
Work is divided into day shifts (8 am - 8 pm) and night shifts (8 pm - 8 am), with 3-4 Thai workers per shift. Night shift workers receive additional compensation for overtime work.
Ambassador Tanee presented Thai fruits and contact information to the Thai workers, emphasising the embassy's readiness to assist workers of all types and legal statuses in South Korea. He encouraged them to contact the embassy for full support and care when needed.
