On 17 March 2025, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, met with H.E. Mr. Kim Yung-rok, Governor of Jeollanam Province, to discuss ways to further strengthen the cooperation between both sides in various dimensions. Ambassador Tanee thanked Jeollanam Provincial Government for taking good care of approximately 30,000 Thai nationals in the province.

Both sides exchanged views on the promotion of trade and investment, renewable energy, science and innovation, education and academic exchanges, and possible cooperation on the space center development.

Ambassador Tanee also enhanced the existing sister city relationships between Jeollanam Province and Rayong Province, and jointly promoted the Songkran festival in Thailand and the Jangheung Water Festival organised in Jeollanam Province. The Embassy is ready to invite Thai private sector organisations and Thai restaurants to participate in the 2025 International Food Festival in Mokpo, and will invite Thai local authorities to participate in the Jeollanam-do Asia Friendly Region Exchange Conference later this year.
