On 26 April 2025, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, was invited by the Thai community in Ansan to preside over the 2025 Songkran Festival at the Ansan City Multicultural Family Support Center. The event was also honored by the presence of Ms. Moon Suk Hyeon, Director of the Ansan Multicultural Family Support Center, as a distinguished Korean guest. Approximately 300 Thai participants attended to celebrate this heartwarming event, including Team Thailand officers, members of the Thai community in Ansan, and Thai nationals residing in nearby areas.

The festival featured traditional water-pouring rituals for Buddha images and elders, as well as Thai cultural performances, including classical dance and traditional music presented by the Thai community in the ROK. All participants also enjoyed a lunch together.

Ambassador and Thai community leaders in the ROK visited the Onnuri M Center and surveyed the potential location of “Thai Town”. The initiative envisions a designated space where the Thai community can be gathered. The weekend market will be conducted as the process of feasibility study to establish Thai Town in the future.

Ambassador also visited Isan Food Factory, meeting with the owner and Thai workers, offering encouragement and support for their business.
