On 4 April 2025, H.E. Mr. Tanee Saengrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, was invited by Department of Thai Interpretation and Translation, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) to deliver the opening remarks in the 2025 Songkran Festival in Seoul. The participants poured water on the hands of elders to show respect and ask for blessings. This event featured by Thai cultural performances, Muay Thai Demonstration, varieties of Thai cuisine from 5 Thai restaurants; Pad Ka Paw, Amazing Nongkhai, Zaab E lee, Banana Leaf, and Ura pround

The Ambassador also shared the tastes of authentic Thai tea from the Thai Ambassador's residence to teachers and students, participating in this event, with an aim to enhance the popularity of Thai tea in the ROK. Ambassador Tanee highlighted the cultural significance of Songkran as traditional Thai New Year Festival, which has been observed since ancient times.
He also noted with pride that in 2023, UNESCO inscribed "Songkran in Thailand" on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which enhancing awareness of the value and importance of Songkran Festival as a cherished element of Thai cultural heritage.
