On 9 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, extended his encouragement and assistance to a Thai worker who sustained serious injuries after being physically assaulted by a Korean employer. On this occasion, the Ambassador presented a fruit basket and facilitated consular services, including a passport and a national identification card, to ensure that the injured individual could proceed with necessary documentation.

Furthermore, on 8 April 2026, senior executives from the Ministry of Employment and Labor of the ROK paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador to express their condolences and apologies for the incident. They also provided an update on the progress of the case, including assurances of measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

The Ambassador urged the Korean authorities to expedite the investigation and ensure that legal proceedings against the perpetrator are carried out earnestly and without delay. He also requested that the responsible parties provide appropriate support, including medical expenses, compensation, and remedies for the damages suffered by the injured worker. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of implementing strict measures to regulate employers in order to prevent harassment, unfair treatment of employees, and violations of human rights, as well as to reduce workplace accidents and hazards.

The Korean side reaffirmed its commitment to providing full and prompt assistance to Thai workers. The Embassy will continue to closely monitor the case and reaffirmed its dedication to protecting, supporting, and promoting the welfare of Thai nationals in the ROK.
