On 6 February 2024, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Chargé d’affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, had a meeting with Mr. Park Kyoung Sub, Director of Narcotics Division (Senior Prosecutor), Supreme Prosecutors’ Office of the Republic of Korea. The two sides discussed the current drug trafficking situation in Thailand, ways to promote cooperation, and measures to prevent Thai nationals from offending the ROK’s drug trafficking-related laws. For instance, the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul and the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand have issued a warning to Thai nationals who are travelling to or staying in South Korea regarding the penalties for drug trafficking. In addition, the two sides also discussed ways to reduce the number of illegal Thai nationals residing in the ROK.
