On 6 September 2025, H.E. Mr. Dusit Manapan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, officially opened “Sawasdee Seoul Thai Festival 2025: Discover Thailand” at Cheonggye Plaza in the heart of Seoul. At the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea gave introductory remarks and Mr. Kim Young-soo, Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Yoo Sang-bum, Member of the National Assembly and Vice President of the Korea–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group and Ms. Seo Bihn, Director-General for Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea congratulated on the event. The event was also attended by members of diplomatic corps, high-level representatives from both public and private sectors in Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
The opening ceremony featured Thai cultural performances by the Siam Mantra Troupe, Khon performance by Bunditpatanasilpa Institute of Fine Arts, and a Muay Thai demonstration by Mr. Buakaw Banchamek.
Marking its 10th edition, the Thai Festival in Seoul aims to present Thailand’s cultural diversity through art, music, cuisine, creative products, and tourism, while also promoting the country’s creative economy and enhancing Thailand’s soft power. The Festival further serves to strengthen people-to-people ties and deepen the bonds of friendship between Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
The event was attended by more than 100,000 visitors during 6-7 September 2025.
