On 6 January 2023, Ambassador Witchu Vejjajiva welcomed members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of Thailand led by Mr. Sarawut Phetpanomporn, Chairman of the Standing Committee, on their visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) to strengthen partnership with related agencies of the ROK.

 

During the meeting, the Ambassador gave an overview of the Thailand–ROK relations, as well as responded to questions and exchanged views with members of the Standing Committee on the work of the Embassy in protecting and providing assistance to Thai nationals of around 190,000 residing in the ROK, issues related to illegal workers, and concerns regarding Thai tourists denied entry to the ROK at the ports of entry.

 

After the meeting, the Ambassador and members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of Thailand paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Lee Jeong-sik, Minister of Employment and Labour of the ROK to discuss Thai labour-related issues.
