Thai Buddhism Booth being One of the Most Popular and Visited Booths at the Lotus Lantern Festival 2012 in Seoul

  Thai Buddhism booth met with great success being one of the most visited    at the Lotus Lantern Festival, the biggest Buddhist Festival in Seoul, to celebrate Vesakha Day, on 20 May 2012.

        The participants were overwhelmingly interested in the demonstration of Thai Buddhist ordination ceremony held for the first time in this festival as well as the elegant performance of Thai classical dance.

        In the booth, there were also the exhibitions of Thai Buddhism altar tables set, Thai Buddha statues in various mudras, and Buddhist tourism in Thailand.

        Other popular activities enjoyed by the festival participants of all ages were the presentation of “Sangha Dana,” which was a donation of necessities to community of monks without personal specification, the tying of sacred thread and the sprinkling of holy water by Thai Buddhist monks for blessing.

        Such successful outcome of this meritorious cultural event did not only contribute to the promotion of Thai Buddhism and ways of life in the Republic of Korea but also demonstrated the unity and solidarity of Thai community in the Republic of Korea.

        The Thai Buddhism booth was organized by the Royal Thai Embassy, with cooperation of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Seoul, Thai-Korean Buddhism Promotion Center in Ansan, Thai Students Association, and Thai community in the Republic of Korea. All donations were presented to the Thai-Korean Buddhism Promotion Center which was recently founded early this year.
