On 26 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, delivered a congratulatory remarks at the opening ceremony of the special exhibition "Weaving Hands, Women’s Time: Textile Traditions in ASEAN,” organized by the KF-ASEAN Culture House in Busan. On this occasion, the Ambassador underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage while embracing contemporary innovation, and expressed his confidence that the exhibition would further enhance mutual understanding and strengthen ties between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea.
The exhibition holds significant importance in showcasing the richness and diversity of ASEAN textile traditions, particularly highlighting the vital role of women in preserving and passing on this invaluable cultural heritage. It also reflects the collective efforts of ASEAN Member States in safeguarding shared cultural assets, including initiatives to inscribe traditional attire such as the kebaya on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
