On 21 June 2024, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, met with Ms. Kim Jin-kang, President of the Gwangju Tourism Organization, to discuss cooperation between Thailand and Gwangju in developing their respective tourism industries by applying innovation to promote key tourism sites, promoting sustainable local tourism, advancing medical tourism, enhancing youth exchanges and supporting creative industries.

Both sides expressed their determination to increase the number of visitors between both countries by organizing cultural festivals such as Sawasdee Seoul Thai Festival 2024 and Gwangju Biennale.
