During April 2-3, 2025, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, and diplomatic corps. from 16 countries visit Korea’s defense industry in Changeon, Gyonsanam province. The visit was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and led Mrs. Kang Insun, Vice Minister. Gist is as follows:

1. The diplomatic corps. visited three leading defense corporations of Korea: Hyundai Rotem, Hanwah Aerospace, and KAI. The three corporations briefed the diplomatic corps. on their weapons, military vehicles, including Hyundai Rotem’s railway business as well as ways to cooperate on joint maintenance and repair, development in the future.

2. The Ambassador discussed with executives of Hyundai Rotem on the opportunities for investment and joint development of northern and southern routes of highspeed railways in Thailand, in addition to the northeastern route from Bangkok-Nakornratchasima-Vientiene which is under construction.

3. The Ambassador invited executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the three Korean defense corporations to join the Ignite Thailand Korea Business Forum on April 22-23, 2025 in Seoul to promote Korean Investment in Thailand and business partnership.

4. Thailand has had continuing defense cooperation with the Republic of Korea such as joint refurbishing of armored personnel carriers, and acquisitions of warships and advanced fighter jet trainers.
