On 22 April 2021 Ms. Rommanee Kananurak, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, along with fellow ASEAN Ambassadors to the ROK paid a visit to Mr. Christopher Koo, Chairman of LS Group and the Korea International Trade Association, and held a consultation with Mr. Ken Lee, Vice Chairman and CEO of LS Group, and other executives of LS Group, to discuss ways to further promote investment from LS in ASEAN.

On this occasion, Ambassador Rommanee, in her capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Seoul, expressed appreciation to LS for their cooperation in developing transportation infrastructure, smart power & energy, and automation systems in ASEAN. In particular, she thanked LS Electric for their engagement in developing the signaling system of Thailand’s railways. At present, the Royal Thai Government is promoting the Bio-Circular-Green Economy, or BCG Model, as a model for economic development, and ASEAN has continually prioritized creating seamless connectivity in the region, which coincide with LS’ aim of developing sustainable and smart industrial systems. Hence, there is great potential for both sides to increase cooperation, especially to achieve economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. After the opening remarks, LS gave a presentation on their business activities in ASEAN, followed by brief remarks from ASEAN Ambassadors inviting LS to consider expanding investment in their respective countries.
