Elephant World Project in Surin Province received the Human City Design Award in the Republic of Korea

On 8 March 2021, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Minister of the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul attended the 2020 Human City Design Award Ceremony for presenting the awards to the 10th finalists. On this occasion, he received the award from Mr. Jeong-hyup SEO, Acting Mayor of Seoul on behalf of Assistant Professor Boonserm Premthada, a well-known Thai architect, the owner of Elephant World Project in Surin Province.    

The Elephant World project has been supported by the Royal Thai Government and Surin Province’s Local Administration with an aim to design a world class elephant preservation center and elephant learning center in Surin Province. This project was also aimed to bring the Kui people, the local people in the area, and their elephants back to their homeland.  

The said award is an international award that proposes directions for the use of designs in cities of the future with objective to promote Seoul as a leading human-centered design city as well as the role and direction of human-centered design in cities as a way to ensure sustainable growth in societies.
