Minister Bancha attends International Conference of Korean Educators Abroad (including Thai), focusing on innovation approach in teaching development
On 10 July 2025, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul, together with representatives of embassies of countries supported by the Ministry of Education of the ROK to organize Korean language teaching, were invited by the Ministry of Education of the ROK and the International Korea Education Foundation to attend the reception dinner for the 23rd International Conference of Korean Educators abroad 2025 (including 8 educators from 8 schools in Thailand), which was held under the theme “Sustainable Korean Language Education in the Big Data Era” at the Sarangjae Event Hall in the National Assembly of the ROK.
This conference was focused on the application of innovation in developing the Korean language teaching curriculum.” Mr. Woo Won Shik, the Speaker of National Assembly of the ROK gave a remarks welcoming the participants and congratulated them on the success in teaching of Korean language abroad.
In the event, there were performances from leading artists and K-Pop singing contest by Korean educators from various countries (including Thailand). Minister Bancha met with Ms. Ha Yu Kyung, Director-General of Global Education Planning Bureau, Ministry of Education of the ROK and expressed gratitude for supporting Korean language teaching in Thailand.
At present, there are 189 secondary schools in Thailand, under the Ministry of Education, teaching Korean language. There are a large number of private schools and schools under universities in Thailand that also providing Korean language classes. Recently, there were approximately 45,000 Thai students, studying Korean language, which is the largest number of foreign students studying Korean language in the world. This will help facilitate the promotion of trade, investment and tourism between Thailand and the ROK in the long run.
