On 19 May 2022, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Minister, along with Mr. Nithiphat Wattanasuwakul, Labour Attaché, welcomed Mr. Choi Byoung-Bu, Director of Foreign Affairs Division, and police officers from Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency, at Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul. The two sides discussed ways to promote cooperation on information sharing and educating Thai nationals in South Korea on crime prevention, in particular drug related crimes which have become more serious among Thai nationals in South Korea during the past 3 years.
In the southern part of Gyeonggi Province, including Hwaseong, Gimpo, which is under the supervision of Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency, has approximately 11,000 Thai nationals residing legally, accounting for around one-third of overall Thai nationals residing legally in South Korea.
