Reception in Celebration of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, National Day, and Father’s Day, December 5, 2024
On 4 December 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul, organized a reception in celebration of the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Thailand’s Father’s Day, 5 December 2024, at the Crystal Ballroom of the Lotte Hotel Seoul.
H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK presided over the event on behalf of the Thai side and H.E. Mr. Keeyong Chung, Ambassador, Deputy Minister for Climate Change, and Special Envoy for the Indo-Pacific was the guest of honor.
Ambassador Tanee delivered remarks honoring His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great’s legacy and sharing ways to forge closer cooperation between Thailand and the ROK as a strategic partner.
Approximately 500 guests attended the reception, including members of the diplomatic corps, political figures, senior officials from the ROK governmental agencies, executives from the Thai and ROK private sectors, press and media representatives, key opinion leaders from both Thailand and the ROK, officials and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand agencies, along with their spouses, and representatives of the Thai community residing in the ROK.
Ambassador Tanee presented a Consular Volunteer Honor Pin, a certificate of honour and a consular volunteer jacket to each of four consular volunteers of the Embassy for the year 2024 for their remarkable dedication and continuous support to the Embassy’s consular work and also presented an award, a pin and a certificate to the outstanding Labour Volunteer for the year 2024.
The reception was featured by an exhibition dedicated to the life and contributions of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, food stalls showcasing Thai cuisine operated by Thai entrepreneurs in the ROK, booths displaying private sector products and their potential, and a Lucky Draw activity with prizes including: (1) five hotel stay vouchers for two nights each (two prizes from the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, two prizes from the Sheraton Grand Hotel Incheon, and another one from Banyan Tree Bangkok), and (2) two round-trip economy class tickets on the Seoul–Bangkok route, sponsored by Thai Airways.
The reception also showcased performances of His Majesty the King’s compositions and Korean songs by the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (RBSO), featuring vocals by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kittinant Chinsamran and the National Chorus of Korea, which enriched the atmosphere throughout the evening.
There were elephant and Moo Deng ice sculpture carvings together with Moo Deng cake on show in this event to attract more South Korean and foreign tourists to visit Thailand. A piece of Thai sculpture “The work Indrajit transformed, RS115” from 333 Gallery, the 1st Thai art gallery in Seoul was also on display for promoting Thai art in the ROK.
