On 7 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, together with officials of the Royal Thai Embassy, held a meeting with representatives of Thai associations in the ROK, including the Thai Cultural Council of the ROK, the Nuad Thai Volunteer Association of the ROK, the Thai Women’s Council of the ROK, the Thai Students Association in the ROK, the Thai Friendship Center in Gimhae, and the Thai community in Jeju. The meeting took place both at the Ambassador’s Residence and via an online platform.

During the meeting, representatives reported on past activities and presented their future plans. The Ambassador provided recommendations to enhance the efficiency of the associations’ operations, which included strengthening networks among Thai associations and improving connections with both public and private sectors in Thailand and the ROK, as well as with Thai and Korean media. He also emphasized the importance of publicizing the organizations’ financial accounts to ensure transparency.

The participants also discussed collaboration among Thai communities in organizing the Thai Festival 2026, scheduled to take place on 20–21 June 2026 at Cheonggye Plaza. A key highlight of the event will be a cultural parade, aimed at adding vibrancy and enjoyment while promoting Thai arts, cultural identity, and traditional Thai attire to a wider international audience.

This initiative represents an important step in strengthening the Thai community in the ROK and enhancing the global recognition of Thai culture.
