On 26 May 2022, Mr. Suppasit Pradyawong, CEO of Thai biotech startup ‘Bluefin Life Technologies’ paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, during his visit to the ROK to sign MoU with Ichrogene Inc., a South Korean DNA analysis service platform. Mr. Suppasit introduced Bluefin and Ichrogene’s joint project on developing Thailand’s first-ever precision medical diagnosis service which can predict a patient’s diabetes probability through genome analysis. In the future, Bluefin aims to expand the service to the diagnosis of other diseases, in line with the Thai government’s biotechnology promotion policy. Ambassador was pleased to learn about the project as it serves as a good example and starting point for Thai-Korean startup collaboration on biotechnology, which should be further encouraged. Mr. Suppasit visited the Embassy with Ms. Shin Young-ah, CEO of Ichrogene, and Mr. Ryu Jae-jun, Executive Director of Naver Cloud, one of the project’s financiers.
