Thailand has been selected to host the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG), which will take place in Bangkok from 12–18 October 2026.

Hosting the Annual Meetings reflects Thailand’s important role as a regional and global hub for economic and financial cooperation, as well as the international community’s confidence in the country’s economic potential, institutional development, and continued constructive engagement on the global stage.

Thailand is one of only three countries in the world to have been honored with hosting the IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings for a second time.

Thailand previously hosted the IMF–WBG Annual Meetings in 1991. Hosting the Meetings again in 2026 highlights the significant progress achieved by Thailand and the Asian region over the past three decades and underscores Asia’s growing role in supporting global economic and financial stability.

The IMF–WBG Annual Meetings bring together central bank governors, ministers of finance and development, private sector leaders, representatives of civil society organizations, research institutions, and academics from around the world to discuss key global issues, including the global economic outlook, financial stability, poverty reduction, inclusive economic growth, and job creation.

In addition, hosting the Meetings presents an important opportunity for Thailand to showcase its capabilities, strengthen cooperation with international partners, and further enhance its role within the global economic community.
