On 10-11 May 2025, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul, together with Mrs. Kanticha Laicharernkit, Head of the Consular Section, led the consular team and lawyer team from Hanmaru Law Firm, to provide and give a lecture on consular services and provide consultation services on labour-related matters and Korean laws at Ulsan Metropolitan City Hall.

Minister Bancha met around 500 Thai nationals whilst receiving consular services to encourage Thai illegal migrants in the ROK to apply for memberships of WeFriend Aid to get medical treatment fee reduction from around 500 clinics and hospitals in the ROK with which WeFriend Aid has cooperation and to campaign for Thai nationals in the ROK to refrain from drugs-related offences.

Minister Bancha discussed with Mr. Gong Jin Hyeuk, Chairman of the Council Steering Committee of Ulsan Metropolitan Council, and Ms. Park Yujee, Director of the Ulsan Support Center for Foreign Residents, to extend networking for providing support for Thai distressed persons. Minister Bancha also showed the Embassy’s appreciation to Ulsan Metropolitan Council for allocating a venue for consular services.

Minister Bancha had a discussion with Thai community leaders in Ulsan and learnt of issues that Thai skilled labour in the Ulsan shipbuilding industry and owners of Thai restaurants in Ulsan are requesting the Embassy’s support for. The Embassy will raise those issues with the ROK’s authorities concerned to find appropriate solutions.
