On 25 – 26 November 2021, H.E. Ms. Rommanee Kananurak, Ambassador of Thaliand to the ROK, attended the 2021 DMZ International Forum on the Peace Economy which was held for the 3rd time, in Goseong, Gangwon Province, under the theme “Building Resilience for Peace and International Cooperation on the Korean Peninsula” by National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (NRC), Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), and Gangwon Province. The event was aimed to promote understanding about the reality of the division between the two Koreas through first-hand experience and provide platform for discussion about ways to promote inter-Korean cooperation, especially in the areas of peace economy and public health for the well-being of peoples on both sides, as well as international cooperation and support, to promote dialogue for permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula. Participants included the Minister of Unification and representatives from the relevant agencies of the ROK, representatives from research institutes from different countries around the world, and ambassadors and diplomats in the ROK.
On this occasion, Ambassador Rommanee paid a visit to the DMZ Museum and Goseong Unification Observatory in Goseong, Gangwon Province, the only divided county and province in the world, and participated in the tree-planting commemorative ceremony with other ambassadors on behalf of all the participants, and gave a speech emphasizing the Royal Thai Government’s support for the ROK’s effort in promoting lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and maintaining the momentum for the peaceful resolution of disputes and expressing hope that all parties concerned will soon resume the dialogue process towards a denuclearized and more prosperous Korean Peninsula.
