On 10 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, attended the opening ceremony of the 13th ASEAN Connectivity Forum organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre under the theme “Catalyzing the Evolution of ASEAN Connectivity: Strategic Action Plan for the Decade”.
Ambassador Tanee emphasized the importance of physical infrastructure in supporting ASEAN economic integration, highlighting key Thai projects such as the high-speed rail connecting Lao PDR – Thailand- China, High Speed Rail system in Thailand connecting Don Muang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports to support business in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the construction of the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge as well as the development of Laem Chabang and Klong Toey deep-sea ports to enhance trade and investment between countries.
He also stressed the significance of soft infrastructure, including legal standards, cybersecurity, immigration and customs procedures, and digital skills, to ensure that physical connectivity operates comprehensively. He pointed out that digital connectivity would be a key mechanism in supporting e-commerce, fintech, online banking, and digital trade and Thailand would like to cooperate with the ROK in this regard.
The 13th ASEAN Connectivity forum featured lectures and panel discussions by experts on smart cities, supply chains, logistics, and digital integration, aimed at enhancing ASEAN connectivity in the coming decade.
