On 25 August 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon, Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, and delegation visited the Korea Institute of Power Human Resource Development (KIPHRD) to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the training and development of personnel in the energy sector between Thailand and the Republic of Korea.

Ambassador Tanee briefed the meeting on ongoing energy projects involving Thai and Korean companies, including B.Grimm’s offshore wind project in Jeollanam-do, EGCO’s joint venture with SK Energy in Paju, KLES’s Smart Farm/Smart Power Project in Chiang Mai, and a hydrogen project on Koh Tao Island in the Gulf of Thailand. Personnel involved in these projects, as well as those working in Thailand’s power sector, could benefit from training programmes that may be provided by KIPHRD. KIPHRD provided an overview of its roles and missions, followed by an exchange of views with the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, on opportunities to further promote cooperation in the energy sector.

KIPHRD provides training programmes for personnel from Korea’s five major state-owned power generation companies: Korea South-East Power (KOEN), Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO), Korea Western Power (KOWEPO), Korea Southern Power (KOSPO), and Korea East-West Power (EWP). These five companies are subsidiaries of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).
