On 18 March 2025, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, met with

Mr. Lee Dong Sup, President of Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters) at the Headquarters of Kukkiwon in Seoul to learn about strategies and ways to promote Taekwondo, which is both the national martial art and the national sport of the ROK, into a globally recognized sport that has been officially included in the Olympic Games.

Ambassador Tanee thanked KUKKIWON for supporting the development of Thai taekwondo athlete to achieve Gold Olympic Medals and invited KUKKIWON to demonstrate Taekwondo together with Muay Thai in the Sawasdee Seoul Thai Festival 2025: T-Pop Story” in which the Embassy will organize during 6-7 September 2025 at Cheonggyecheon Plaza in city Centre of Seoul.

This exchange of knowledge aims to provide insightful suggestions for relevant Thai agencies working on the promotion and standardization of Muay Thai (Thai Boxing), Thailand’s national martial art and sport, to be recognized and officially included in Olympic Games in line with the Thai government’s policy in the future.

The President of Kukkiwon awarded Ambassador Tanee the 6th Dan Black Belt Taekwondo Honorary Certification and presented the special taekwondo martial art demonstration for Ambassador and his delegation to view as a mark for promoting Thailand-ROK Taekwondo sport relations.
