On 13 April 2025, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Chargé d'affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul together with Ambassadors/representatives of the Embassies of ASEAN Member Countries and Timor-Leste in the ROK, were invited by H.E. DATO' MOHD ZAMRUNI KHALID, Malaysian Ambassador to the ROK, in his capacity of the Chair of ASEAN Committee in Seoul (ACS), to attend a sharing session with Sejong Institute, a non profit institute, dedicated to developing strategies and policies in areas of foreign and security affairs, represented by Dr. Choi Yoon Jung, Vice President on the topic: “Navigating the Future: Strengthening ASEAN-Korea Cooperation in Changing Global Landscape”, specifically during Trump 2.0.

This interactive session was organized at the Residence of Malaysian Ambassador in Seoul.

Dr. Choi shared her views that during the current global political and economic uncertainty, ASEAN-ROK should enhance cooperation under comprehensive strategic partnership (CSP) more seriously. The ASEAN-ROK ties both on security and economy must be structured, not just symbolic.

CDA Bancha shared Thailand’s perspective as the country coordinator for ASEAN-ROK relations that Thailand is ready to work with ASEAN Member Countries and the ROK in driving forward concrete outcomes from CSP. Thailand looks forward to host the 29th ASEAN-ROK Dialogue from 15-16 May 2025 in Bangkok.
