On 16 March 2026, Mr. Chawadol Nipathannont, Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, together with officials, paid a courtesy call on Ms. Han Eun Sook, Director of the Foreign Workforce Division, Ministry of Employment and Labor of the ROK, to exchange views and further strengthen cooperation on Thai labor in the ROK.

During the meeting, both sides addressed key issues, including: (1) the allocation of quotas for Thai workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS); (2) the potential expansion of employment sectors for Thai workers, particularly in the logistics and services sectors; (3) measures to enhance the care and protection of Thai workers in the ROK, with particular emphasis on workplace safety; and (4) the possible extension of the job-seeking period for Thai workers affected by employer business closures or job transitions.

The Korean side took note of the proposals and indicated that these would be duly considered in the review and refinement of relevant policies.

In this regard, the Royal Thai Embassy reaffirms its commitment and readiness to continue safeguarding, protecting, and promoting the welfare of Thai workers in the ROK, with a view to ensuring their well-being and fair and equitable treatment on a sustained basis.
