In June 2023, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongchareon, Minister, and the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul’s consular team were led by Mr. Jong-Yeol Park, Head of Crisis Management and Support Division, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Mr. Chae In Yoon, Head of Civil Defence Division, Yongsan-gu Office, to survey the basement floor of Cheil building, which is in the vicinity of 800 metres from the Embassy and thus is considered the nearest potential emergency shelter for Thai nationals who come to the Embassy to receive consular services.
In case the South Korean authorities broadcast the air raid signals, people can go hide in any emergency shelters which are now available up to 17,000 ones countrywide. In front of every emergency shelter, there will be the red sign in Korean reads “대피소” and in English reads “Shelter”. It is recommended that people download and use Emergency Ready App to locate the closest emergency shelter by choosing the tab ‘Civil Defence Shelters’ >> ‘Select Your Areas’ >> ‘Sub Area Selection’ then press Search.
