On 12 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, visited the Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind power project area and had a discussion with the representative of B.Grimm Power on the progress of the project. Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind power project, once completed, will have a power generation capacity of 364 megawatts, making it South Korea's largest offshore wind power project.
On the same day, Ambassador had a meeting with Mr. Hyunchan Lee, President of the Energy Valley Enterprise Development Institute (EVEDI), to learn about the develoment of the Energy Valley, a smart energy hub which attracts companies and research institutes focused on new energy industries to locate in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, and discussed ways to promote cooperation in energy industries. Ambassador also met with Mr. Doo Bong Han, President of the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI), to exchange views and enhance cooperation on rural development and agriculture between the two countries.
